A friendly reminder that tomorrow, Friday 15 August is a Teacher Only Day at Kerikeri High School. As this is a professional development day for our teachers, we will not be open for the supervision of students.

Notice of PPTA Strike Action Wednesday 20 August
Kia ora koutou
Earlier this afternoon we received notice from the Post Primary Teachers Association (the PPTA) of members intention to hold a nationwide strike on Wednesday 20 August. This strike action is a response from PPTA following a breakdown in bargaining for the Secondary Teachers Collective Agreement.
For Kerikeri High School, this means normal classes will not be offered for students on Wednesday 20 August. School will however remain open, with normal start and finish times. Students who attend school that day will be supervised by non-union teachers, and our normal timetable will not be running. School buses will run at their normal times that day.
The PPTA has further announced a schedule of partial strikes, meaning union members will not teach, supervise, or instruct students in certain year levels on designated days in the last week of term three. The timings of the year levels affected are:
15 September – Years 12 and 13
16 September - Year 11
17 September - Year 10
18 September - Year 9
We will assess the impact of these partial strikes and provide an update with our planning for those days in the next week or so. At this stage we expect it is highly likely that we will need to roster these year levels home on these respective days.
We are sharing this information with you as quickly as we can so that you have time to make appropriate family arrangements as needed. Please be aware this industrial action is nationwide and will have an impact across the country.

WAKA Pānui – School Arrival Time
Whāia te mātauranga. We are learners and part of that means being on time and ready to start the day together. Be present, be punctual, be prepared.
We would like to remind all students to arrive at school on time and proceed straight to their form class when the first bell rings at 8:35am. Form Time begins at 8:40am, and it’s important that everyone is in class by then. A timely and settled start to the day supports a productive learning environment. Once Year 7-12 students have arrived at school in the morning, they must also stay on site for the day.
Thank you for your continued support.
