International Students at Kerikeri High School live with local families during their stay in Kerikeri. Each host family is unique, and some families host one student, whilst others host two or three students. We have families living both in town and out of town (rural). Some families are located within walking distance to Kerikeri High School and the shops. For students living with a rural host family, they may catch the school bus to and from school. They might be living on a farm where there are horses and other animals.
Kerikeri is in the Bay of Islands, in the north of New Zealand. It is a 45-minute domestic flight from Auckland Airport or a four-hour journey by car.
Kerikeri has a population of around 10,000 people and is known for its clean, green, safe environment and outdoor lifestyle. There is access to many beaches and coastline for sailing, surfing, kayaking, scuba diving, swimming, and fishing, as well as native forests with great walks and picturesque waterfalls. The town has three sports complexes and multiple fitness centres.
